Nobody, and we mean nobody, messes with Rajinikanth! But Ram Gopal Varma obviously didn’t hear of this diktat. In his upcoming film Department, there is an item number Dan Dan Dan which fans of Tamil films would recognise as being similar to a Tamil song, Aasai Nooru Vagai, a song composed by Illayaraja and picturised on Rajini.
“Ramu may have thought the song would have been forgotten by now, as it’s been decades since it released. However, given the millions of fans that Rajini has on social media networks, within minutes of Dan Dan Dan going online, there were people noticing the similarities,” says an insider.
In fact, it’s not just the song, even the videos are quite similar. “In Aasai Nooru Vagai, Rajini flirts with a number of women who are surrounding him. In Dan Dan Dan, Ramu’s latest discovery, Brazilian model Nathalia Kaur, has some hundreds of men courting her attention,” a fan adds. While even the sternest of critics would admit the song has “dum”, one does wonder whatever happened to the originality, which has been Ramu’s forte so far. Guess even that got swept away by Rajini’s persona.
Kangy hurt after Ajay snub
We don’t really know what prompted Kangna Ranaut to sign the Priyadarshan film Tezz, but whatever it was, she surely didn’t take a careful look at her potential co-stars. For the film featured Ajay Devgn, a man she had a nasty run-in with not too long ago. But Ajay, who also hasn’t forgotten or forgiven, kept a safe distance from her.
“Ajay has been on good terms with all the other actors, but he conveniently forgot to mention Kangy’s name while launching the trailer of Tezz. In fact, he said Sameera Reddy is the real action heroine in the film, though Sam isn’t as big a name in the industry as Kangy,” our sources say. And Kangna wasn’t going to take any of this lying down. “She was so upset about being sidelined that she has decided to not promote the film at all,” say sources close to the actress, adding that she flew to the US to promote the film, but apart from a few TV channel interviews, she isn’t giving any more.
