Of late, the roles taken on by ‘supreme star’ Sarath Kumar have been varied ones. Sarath, who is also the president of the Nadigar Sangam besides heading his own political outfit which is part of the alliance dominated by the ruling party in the State, has played solo-hero in more than 50 films in Tamil. Yet, he has this tendency to take on prominent roles in films which need not necessarily be that of the hero.
Sarath’s roles in his recent films such as the Mammootty-starrer Pazhasi Raja, Raghava Lawrence’s Kanchana, the Kannada version of the Tamil hit Mynaa and superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Kochadaiyan have been prominent ones. Sarathly is very happy in particular to be starring along Rajini in Kochadaiyan as it had been an ‘unfulfilled dream’ for him to star in a Rajini film.
His latest assignment is a prominent role in director A.R. Murugadoss’ upcoming film Thuppakki which has Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal in lead roles. As already reported, this is the first film for Vijay under Murugadoss’ direction and opposite the sexy Kajal. Billed as an action-packed adventure, the film has Vijay essaying the role of a Mumbai-based cop who thrives in ‘encounters’.
Murugadoss narrated the script ane explained to Sarath the role to be essayed by him. Obviously impressed by what he heard, Sarath has accepted the offer to star in the film. The film, incidentally, also marks the ‘acting’ debut of Murugadoss who has taken on a small role apparently at the behest of Vijay. No details of what would be Sarath’s role in the film’s script have so far been revealed.
