At last, the wait is over for Shruti Haasan. The talented daughter of Kamal Haasan is gifted with many traits and is qualified enough to make it big in the industry in many spheres including acting in her own right without the tag of being the ‘daughter’ of Kamal.
For long, she had been described as an actress without luck. Times started changing with her 7am Arivu opposite Suriya which released late last year and turned out to be a colossal hit. She was in for some disappointment when her 3 opposite Dhanush failed to light up the box-office a few months back. Fears loomed large among her fans that the tag of being unlucky might get stuck with her.
However, she is on ‘Cloud Nine’ at present with her latest Telugu film Gabbar Singh which released a couple of weeks ago being declared as a ‘super-duper’ hit. In fact, reports from Tollywood say that the film has collected as many as 52 crore in its first 10 days in theatres. Surprisingly enough, the film has also been doing rather well outside Andhra Pradesh and in cities like Chennai.
The collections have overtaken the initial box-office record of films like Magadheera and Dookudu. Gabbar Singh, remake of the Hindi hit Dabangg, has Shruti pairing up opposite Pawan Kalyan. The second week’s collection is likely to sustain the interest in the film for a few more weeks, which would probably make the film one of the all-time hits in the history of Telugu films.
Pawan and Shruti badly needed a hit and Gabbar Singh couldn’t have come at a better time in their careers. Shruti’s acting has been highly appreciated and has also upped her ‘market’ value in Telugu, making her the ‘queen’ of box-office albeit for the present!
